An opportunity to collaborate, research, and exchange ideas in Islamic Studies
The AMI Affiliate Programme provides scholars with an opportunity to connect with the Institute’s vibrant intellectual community and contribute to its wider culture of inquiry. Affiliates become part of an environment that values critical engagement, collegial exchange, and the pursuit of new perspectives in Islamic studies and related fields.
We welcome applications from both established and early-career scholars working in Islamic studies or related fields within the humanities and social sciences. To be considered, applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:
Formal recognition as an AMI Affiliate, plus access to the AMI Library and research facilities.
Opportunities to contribute to teaching and to participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Opportunities to engage with AMI scholars, students, and community.
Up to one month of complimentary accommodation and a modest stipend, in accordance with UK law and AMI policy.
Affiliates are encouraged to contribute to AMI’s academic life in ways that strengthen collegial exchange and advance shared research interests through the following opportunities:
Outputs and teaching contributions are arranged case‑by‑case and are not required in all affiliations.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with responses normally provided within 4–6 weeks of receiving a complete application. In cases of high volume or where additional references are required, timelines may be extended.
